What We Do

Who we are

Washington and Silvia Andrade
traveled from their home country of Brazil to Mozambique in 2012. Over the course of ten years, they built teams, Bible school, established three early childhood centers, and planted more than 30 churches.

While serving Maputo’s villages and surrounding communities, their reach extended into other African countries as well.

As the church flourished, the ministry was empowered to expand its services and outreach. But even amid growth, the Andrades knew there was more to be done – more than they could do on their own.

With a dream of impacting all of Africa,
they began to seek wisdom from God as to how they might do more across the continent for the beautiful people they were called to serve.

After prayer and deep consideration, Washington and Silvia realized that multiplication was the key. Instead of working harder with the same limited resources, they concluded that investing leadership knowledge into others would have a wider reach across the continent. Thus, US FOR AFRICA was born.

Now based in the United States, the Andrade family works to equip and empower pastors and leaders across Africa so they may serve communities and transform lives.

get to know the real africa

Africans are vibrant, beautiful people who the media portray as dirty and destitute. Because of this narrow view, most people have a distorted understanding of Africa and its citizens.

But just like any continent, Africa has pockets of poverty. Kids go hungry, and adults yearn for a purpose.

Africa is a costly place to live. According to the World Bank, low incomes do not sustain the high cost of living. The prices of goods and services in urban African environments can be up to 30% higher than average.*

Additionally, nearly half of all African residents are under the age of 18. And half of those are under the age of 12. These kids are too young to enter the workforce or contribute financially. They rarely have access to proper education, especially in their formative years. This prevents them from pursuing meaningful work and can inhibit their growth as they age.

All these factors contribute to a low life expectancy. Statistics like these can paint a picture of poverty and despair. But hope and a desire for change are inherent in the African people.

Pastors hold a special place in African culture. They have influence and bring real help to those they serve. But to be successful in their work, pastors and community leaders need funds, training, and support. The organic way pastors are embedded in their communities provides a voice to the hopeless, help to the broken, and love to all.

When leaders are healthy, organizations have a greater influence. Our goal is to impact Africa by providing support to those working in villages and communities across the continent.

An African proverb says:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Everything we do is founded on building community. Building relationships with pastors, leaders, and kingdom-minded individuals propels the work of the ministry.

Many nonprofits raise money and release funds to other organizations. We’re interested in more than funding. We want to grow healthy people who will impact their families and cities for years to come.

Those vital individuals embedded in their communities have great influence and are empowered to revitalize bodies, minds, and souls.

how we serve

US FOR AFRICA is a bridge that connects people, resources, and support. Our organization works to connect kingdom-minded investors to skilled leaders for long-term training, mentoring, and discipleship.

This bridge is a path that flows two ways. We want to bring pastors and leaders from Africa to impact the lives of our friends in the United States. We want to connect leaders with the bountiful resources available in the U.S. When we share knowledge, resources, and experiences, everyone benefits.

For ten years, Washington and Silvia skillfully invested their time, money, and resources to build a ministry with profound impact. Their decade of experience gave them firsthand knowledge of the culture and needs of Africans. That expertise guides US FOR AFRICA in all our efforts. We understand exactly how to invest for the greatest return possible.

Ministries

Churches and ministries in Africa provide community and connection. They are the foundation for all the work we do. Churches meet the critical needs of the villages and cities they serve and provide hope through the powerful message of the cross and the saving sacrifice of Jesus. The power of the gospel is at work in Africa, and we seek to expand the reach and spread the good news and power of God across nations.

Schools

While serving in Mozambique, Washington and Silvia established schools and educational TV programming for parents. They have seen over 1,000 children complete their early childhood training and experience the love and power of God. Education in African culture provides many obstacles for children. There’s no common language in Africa. Countries and villages have various dialects. Because most children don’t attend school until the age of 7, they are thrust into a learning environment while learning a new language.

Structure and education are vital for every child. Neuroscientists say that the first 5 years of childhood development are critical, especially as foundations for later growth. Through our school programs, kids receive important early education they would otherwise lack. The curriculum provides foundational instruction including colors, numbers, letters, and language. By providing books, classrooms, and supplies, we are able to prepare children for the next phase of their schooling in a safe, loving, and fun environment.

Businesses

Like local churches, small businesses have great influence and impact. We partner with faithful supporters to invest, develop, and grow businesses that become self-sufficient and contribute to the local economy.

When individuals have the training and funds to operate their own business, they have a deep sense of purpose and commitment. They are full of hope and excitement as they contribute to their families and neighborhoods. Small businesses provide income for families and revitalize local economies.

This is a proven method across the globe for outreach and missions. When people’s basic needs are met, they are more receptive to the gospel message. This is the long-term goal of any business venture we support.

US FOR AFRICA brings transformation and change to the communities of Africa. Because of our years of experience, your support creates a greater impact than it would otherwise. Your support makes this work possible and transforms the lives of real people in need.
